QRP2 mount
The CompM4 series is the beast of Aimpoint sights in terms of size and weight. Its durability and toughness are extremely proven. The US Army widely uses this device with the denomination M68CCO (Close Combat Optic).
However, most CompM4 available in the market come with an LRP mount which has some vulnerabilities:
- the screw can be torqued when the lever is fastened, potentially breaking the mount
- the screw can be over torqued when the lever is unfastened, potentially breaking the mount when fastening the lever
- the lever is vulnerable to impacts in unconventional angles
- the lever has a safety which is likewise vulnerable
For these reasons, US military contract CompM4 come with a QRP2 mount which we now offer to users wishing to upgrade their red dot mounts.
The QRP2 mount has a self-limiting torque knob which applies the exact torque force needed to reliably mount the device. Simply mount on Picatinny, push forward and torque knob until it twist-snaps three times.
Set includes a mount base with torque knob, 4 mounting screws, an Allen key and Permabond threadlocker.
Please note that,
• Mounting the CompM4 sight directly to the QRP2 mount will yield an optic centerline height (from the center of the optic window to the Picatinny rail) of 30 mm (1.18 inches). This is adequate for most weapons, but not for AR-15 flat top rifles.
• For AR-15 flat top weapons, Aimpoint’s 9 mm spacer ought to be used, along with the longer screws. Both come standard with CompM4 sights with LRP mount. Using the 9 mm spacer will provide a 39 mm (1.535 inches) centreline height above Picatinny rail, adequate for the AR-15 platform and akin to a lower third cowitness with the iron sights.
