Aimpoint 3xMag-1

The 3XMag-1 is a very rugged optic that provides 3X magnification. It is meant to be mounted behind an Aimpoint or similar device in order to facilitate target identification, more accurate shots or medium distance shots.

A variable dioptric ring (range -3 to +3) allows adjusting image sharpness to the shooter’s eye.

The zeroing controls are two screws deeply recessed into the body of the device and impossible to accidentally turn when manipulating the optic.

When no magnification is needed, the optic can be flipped to one side or dismounted and stowed in a dump pouch. It can also be used as a standalone monocular.

This magnifier comes with Aimpoint’s 30 mm Flipmount (low) and Aimpoint’s Twistmount base. The height is not recommended for AR-15 weapons but is ideal for other platforms with higher Picatinny rails.

What are the differences between the 3XMag-1 and the 6XMag-1?

- Magnification (3X vs. 6X) 

- The body of the 6X version is 34 mm longer

- The 6X version is 20 g heavier

- The 6X has a much more narrow field of view: 3° instead of 7°. This equals 5.24 m at 100 m, as opposed to 12.22 m at 100 m.

- The 6X has a worse exit pupil (3.3 mm instead of 6.5 mm)

We consider the 3X to be a more usable option and more adequate for the type of weapons it will likely be mounted on.
