The CompM5 series belongs to the most recent generation of Aimpoint devices. It came into existence due to a requirement by a client of the US State Department, for a device with T-2 capabilities, but powered by more readily available AAA batteries.

A T-2 compatible with AAA batteries is an accurate description of the CompM5 series.

The CompM5s we sell comes without mount. We do not believe the ruggedness of Aimpoint’s LRP mounts are on par with their devices and we encourage end users to seek alternative mounts such as Spuhr, Scalarworks, Geissele, Reptilia, BCM, Daniel Defense, Unity Tactical, Arisaka, etc. in the desired mount height.

Please note: the CompM5s uses a T-2 footprint but, due to the battery in the lower position, the body of optic already sits 17 mm (0.67 inches) higher than a T-2 or CompM5. For the desired height, a CompM5s/CompM5b specific mount must be used.

We recommend using exclusively lithium AAA batteries with this device.

We recommend using Loctite 243 on the mounting screws.

What are the differences between the CompM5 and CompM5s?
- In the CompM5s, the battery compartment has been relocated to a lower position in order to reduce the profile of the device and improve field of view
- The CompM5s is 17 grams heavier
- The CompM5s needs a mount 17 mm (0.67 inches) shorter than a CompM5

What are the differences between the T-2 and the CompM5 series?
- Although they share the same footprints, the CompM5s and CompM5b sit at a slightly taller height than the T-2 and the regular CompM5
- The CompM5 uses AAA batteries instead of CR2032
- The CompM5 is larger and heavier
- The CompM5 have a Comp-style intensity adjustment knob, the T-2 has a side wheel-type adjustment cap
- The versions of the CompM5 with low battery compartments (CompM5s and CompM5b) sit slightly higher on the mount

What are the differences between the CompM4 series and the CompM5 series?
- The CompM4 has a window 5 mm wider
- The CompM4 has 3 more night vision intensities available
- The CompM4 has 30,000 more hours of battery life (circa 3 years)
- The CompM4 uses AA batteries instead of AAA
- The CompM4 is larger and heavier
- The CompM4 and CompM5 have different mounting footprints
